More spring pics from our garden....

Rarely does a day go past at this time of year without discovering one or two surprises in our garden - there's nothing better to lift your spirits but to stumble upon another of your favorite flowers out again after waiting all those months since last year. These double snowdrops were brought from my first home in Bristol and seem to be quite content in our Brittany garden!
Another of my favorites are the dear little Iris reticulata - seen here along with some deep purple crocus.

In another little corner the seedlings that I brought on last year of Helleborus niger.
Another find today was that our lovely Camelia has come into flower too - we inherited this with our house so am usure as to it's variety but is stunning and adds much needed colour to our garden for a good many weeks! The blue tits love this bush in particular as it's a good place of refuge when feeding at the bird table!
Then last but not least this little clump of single snowdrops...

Good to see more flowers appearing as the weather warms up. I really like the Iris because of its colour but cannot grow them myself. They flower then disappear and all I get is the odd leaf!

I just love those double snowdrops. Only foliage here right now on the singles but another week or two and perhaps there will be blooms!

Sorry for the delay in replying... I've had a day outside in all this wonderful weather -

Easy Gardener - sorry to hear that you can't grow the little Iris - I must admit they were planted here about 4 yrs ago and they just come up every year - the like quite a protected place - a bit like Crocus!

Hi Layanee - Snowdrops are such beautiful flowers - these are the only double ones I have so I think I might have to stock up for 2010!

Hi Gail - sorry for your Snowdrop Envy! That's the joy of other people's blogs is that you can always enjoy those plants that you don't have! One of my wish list plants is a Witchhazel - or more than 1!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend and see you all soon Miranda

Hi there Miranda, so nice to see flowers from your garden. I've been enjoying seeing all your birds too.

It's always exciting at this time of year watching for the first bulbs coming through the soil and the first birds starting to collect nesting material isn't it? You have so many succesful nesting sites in your garden and I always look forward to hearing all about them. We have had blue tit wars in ours ;-)

Dear Shirl - please forgive me for not replying sooner - this week has been crazy with work but at last the weekend and lovely sunny day so will hope to get out in our own garden today! Hope this finds you well - I love this time of year too - I've not seen any birds as yet with nesting material, but the blue tits going into the nest box and being quite vocal about it all... and the pair of nuthatches very much around so not quite sure if they're here to stay or not... we had a wonderful visit from a green woodpecker - pics to follow in my next posting!

Have a good weekend - Miranda
