I thought I'd share this little video clip that I took of a Black-Headed Gull which kept us amused for ages on the the little beach near to where we spent a very relaxing week's holiday... He was especially funny whenever another gull approached when he would hunch himself forward as in the clip and squawk! We had this beach almost to ourselves - beautiful white sand and lovely swimming if not a bit on the cool side...
A particularly amusing shot of this little dog patiently waiting for his master who'd gone for a swim!
About a kilometer from our cottage La Maison Rose is the Pointe de Trevignon (an easy cycle from the cottage too) from where you can sit and enjoy some of the best Crepes & Galettes - sitting outside and enjoying the sunset in the evenings - this is usually open right up till the end of September.
We've been here a few times and it's a great place particularly out of season - there's even central heating just in case it's cold!
Our cottage was a wonderfully peaceful haven - lots of space and a completely private back garden which is surrounded by oak trees and natural hedging with woodland beyond - perfect for sitting outside and enjoying breakfast in P-J's! Also great for the wildlife lover... we had deer in the garden, a buzzard landed during breakfast and we were also blessed with visits from the Green woodpeckers and Robins in particular.

Beaches are delightful...this one is fantastically beautiful. Is the water warm at this time of year? gail
Thanks for visiting Gail - you're right the beaches are wonderful - particularly when the schools have gone back here - just SO peaceful - other than the gulls of course! I was amazed to have swum 4 times during our week there - the water wasn't warm but once you're in it was v. refreshing - must admit I find if the sea is a bit rough despite being cold you end up in much quicker!! The only really warm sea I've ever been in was in Vietnam and Penang on honeymoon - what a treat! Miranda
It looks lovely and peaceful - my kind of holiday.
I once had one of those gulls on my garage roof - got all excited and looked up "gulls with a black spot on the side of their heads". Then I find they later put on a black hat :-)
I think birds shouldn't go around in disguise, it makes things difficult for us novice birdwatchers!
Thanks for your visit Easygardener - it was SO peaceful - the gulls were there for the entertainment... and yes the lack of black cap confused me too - I'm not v. good on the names of all the gulls - much better on those we have in the garden :-)
What an absolutely beautiful place, Miranda. Thanks for coming over to my blog and leading me here.
I absolutely love your photos. Lovely!
And thank you for thinking of adding me to your blog-list :)
Thanks for the lovely tour, Miranda...we were in that region last September, at the wedding of our younger son to his French fiancee...in Loctudy...and from there
we visited Concarneau, Pont Aven, Quimper, Pointe du Raz, Sainte Marine...all wonderful :)
Love all the shots of the wildlife in your previous post too, especially the mating dragonflies..wish we had more sightings of them here :)
A warm welcome Sunita on this rather grey cloudy day here in Brittany - many thanks for your first visit to Jardinmiranda and so glad you enjoyed all the pictures too... hope you're having a good weekend and will look forward to seeing you here again soon... "a bientot" as they say in France (see you soon) Miranda
Hi WLG - great to see you again - amazing that you also visited the same area - we love it down there but much nicer out of holiday season! There are lots of lovely areas around the north coast if you visit again!
The dragonflies were a real surprise as we don't have a pond here - a stream at the bottom of the woodland but that seems to be enough to bring a number of both Damselflies and Dragonflies which is great... enjoy the rest of your weekend - they're forecasting lots of rain here this week so will get out and make the most of a final dry day for a while.... Miranda
Miranda.....that looks like heaven to me.....what a wonderful way to spend a vacation......
I love French cuisine....always have.....I tend to cook more in that style......
Dear Cheryl - thankyou so much for your visit... I've failed miserably with blogging this last week - firstly work and the last 2 days have had a horrible tummy bug... so perhaps today will allow me some time to catch up!
Do hope you had a great time on your holidays - will pop over for a visit later to see what's been happening in your own garden this last week... have a good weekend Miranda x
